Delight in Family {One Little Word} - Evolved Mommy
This month, as part of my One Little Word project, I’m focused on delighting in family.

A couple weeks ago Charlie spent the weekend in Little Rock with her grandparents, and started the day Saturday dancing with Pepaw in the living room, which melts my heart because this was one of my favorite things to do as a kid. Pepaw taught me to two-step to Hank Williams, Jr. records on the giant console record player. Did you have one of those? It was a record player as big as a buffet.

Then this past Saturday we had our first hint of spring and promptly headed to Wilson Park.
On Thursday night Steve and Charlie went to their second Daddy/Daughter dance in as many years. This girl loves to cut a rug.
Sending cards is not my strength, but I love receiving them, so in an effort to really be intentional about delighting in family I looked at the trusty birthday calendar hanging conveniently in plain site on a cork board in my kitchen, and promptly put Charlie to work creating birthday cards for our loved ones.
Her creations are a work of art and certainly superior to any Hallmark card I could’ve bought. Although, it should be noted, that in this effort to “delight in family” I spent a small fortune at the local Crown Shop on special treats. February is a particularly birthday-full month in our family.

Are you a card sender? How do you make sure your family feels your love?

Wonderful post. I used to be very good at sending cards to friends & family (I also wrote PEN & PAPER LETTERS!). Barf, right? After I got pregnant I became very tired and forgetful & by the time the post-baby fog lifted, I’d developed the habit of NOT sending letters & cards. I’m using a “bring forward” filing system to remember cards, but there are birthdays & events that have slipped trough the cracks… sigh.
I LOVE the cards you showed in your post! Your friends & family have got to be thrilled at receiving original cards! Thank you for sharing.
