Four Instant Appetizers: Perfect for Unexpected Guests - Evolved Mommy
Guest post by Lyndi Fultz, nwafoodie
I know you are busy right now so I will make this brief. Face it, you are going to have unexpected company soon and will most likely have to throw something together for a potluck/finger food/drop-in event. Don’t worry because I’ve got you covered. All you really need are ten ingredients waiting in your pantry or refrigerator that will make four instant appetizers.
Cheesy Chicken Stuffed Tomatoes
4 ingredients – Roma tomatoes, canned chicken, cream cheese, and shredded jalapeno jack cheese
All you have to do is drain the chicken and mix with the cheeses. Cut the tomatoes in half and scoop out the inside. Slice off a piece on the bottom so they will stand up proud and tall. Finally, stuff with the cheesy chicken mixture and bake in your toaster oven at 350 degrees until it bubbles perfectly. Wow them with this one. It is beautiful and comfortingly delicious.
3 ingredients – English or regular cucumbers, hummus, and sesame seeds
Here is another easy breezy and visually impressive instant appetizer that you and your guests will love. Peel the cucumbers and slice into half-inch rounds. Scoop hummus into a Ziploc bag and snip the edge of the bag. This will allow you to pipe the hummus in a nice dollop on each cucumber. Top with a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added punch.
Pretzel Sticks and Nutella Dip
2 ingredients – Pretzel sticks and Nutella spread
This one will do in a super-fast pinch. The kiddos will love you for it and your best friend will think you are a genius. Grab several clear plastic cups from your cupboards (the ones that are great for mixed drinks) or use double old-fashioned glasses if you really want to impress your guests. Spoon Nutella in the bottom of each glass and drop in several pretzel sticks. It is its very own serving tray plus instant appetizer! What’s not to love about that?
Rip open a bag of whatever.
1 ingredient – Whatever your little ol’ hands can grab as fast as possible
Sometimes you just have to pour Cheerios in a bowl and call them baby doughnuts! Remember, your guests just want to be with a relaxed you and laugh the night away. Remember that food can really add specialness to the occasions but at the end of the day it’s about who you are with.
Take your time and enjoy it!
