I'm Steve. What can I get you? - Evolved Mommy

I’m Steve. What can I get you?

I’ve been trying to think of the best way to introduce myself to our readers that might not otherwise put together who I am.  And even though it’s a completely different situation, I keep going back to Colin Quinn taking over Weekend Update after SNL fired Norm MacDonald.  It went like this:

You know how you go to your favorite bar, and your local bartender isn’t there? You ask, “Where’s Jeff?” “Jeff no longer works here, I’m Steve.” And you’re thinking, “Hey, who’s this idiot? I like Jeff.” But you still want your drink, and even though Steve doesn’t mix your drink the same way you’re used to, like Jeff, you still like the same bar, you don’t want to have to go to a different bar. And even Steve might feel kinda bad because Jeff trained him. Jeff showed him how to work the cash register, where the tonic was on the soda gun, who tips, who doesn’t… Well, I’m Steve. What can I get you?

Of course this is way different, because our favorite bartender, er blogger, is still here.  And I like to think that I’m funnier than Colin Quinn.  Stephanie will still be writing, I’m just coming on so we can provide more content and possibly different points of view.  I’ve done a few posts in the past, but as of late I’ve been trying to step it up.

I briefly considered just trying to write as Stephanie.  I thought it might be fun to see if anyone noticed, and then I could occasionally let it slip that I’m secretly EvolvedMommy.  Sure, it sounds fun, but it wouldn’t be fair to you guys or to Stephanie who is a far better writer than I am.  (She might edit my posts from time to time, hence the ass-kissing)  I also realized that it might cause a great deal of confusion for people that follow and interact with her on Twitter and other social networks if they’re not sure if they were talking to her or to me.  So, I scrapped that idea before I even said it out loud.

I also considered trying to create a whole EvolvedDaddy persona.  I’m still tossing that one around, but for now I’m just Steve.  I’m Stephanie’s husband, Charlie’s daddy and your new writer here on EvolvedMommy.  Pop in and say hi in the comments, I’d love to get to know you.  Better yet, follow me on Twitter, @Scratic.  I’ll be running some contests and hosting some giveaways, so it’ll be worth the effort.  Plus, this week I’m going on my first assignment.  Washington DC to drive some super fast family cars, and maybe just some fast cars too.  I’ll be trying to keep everyone up on what I’m up to in our capitol.
