Before I became a mother I had absolutely no idea how important Mother’s Day is. I don’t say that proudly. Thoughtfulness is not something that comes naturally to me, and this year I’ve worked hard to improve in this area.
Now that I’m a mom I love Mother’s Day more than Christmas, not because of gifts, but because of the spirit and mood of the day. The weather is warm-ish, flowers are blooming, and everyone seems a little more polished and put together everywhere you look.
This year my parents came to town and we spent the day at Crystal Bridges Museum, which was just perfect. Beautiful setting. Beautiful Meme. Beautiful Charlie. My heart was full.
Well, except for the entire time we were inside the museum when Charlie was saying, “I want to go play. When do we get to go play. Mommy, I want to leave. Can we leave? Where can we play?”
Really? Now? Why can’t we have this magical day full of flowers and mamas and brunch?
Oh well. That’s what you get when you take a three-year-old to a museum. She’s lucky she’s cute.
I hope you all had a fabulous Mother’s Day that looks idyllic in pictures.
Evolved Mommy is about tech and gadgets as the relate to family life. We talk about Apple products like iPads, iPhones and pretty cases for iPads and iPhones. We talk about gadgets for the home like Nest thermostats and Roombas. We talk about nonsense and life in Northwest Arkansas. Whatever.
