These kinds of events seem to be a win-win for bloggers and brands because they allow bloggers to get together, keep in touch with one another and have a great time while someone else foots the bill. Brands get exposure, blog posts that build traffic to their sites and social sharing from the bloggers.
Northwest Arkansas has developed an impressive blogger community lately. Some of this is attributable to a few dedicated women who have a passion for building community. Having the Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged conference in this region helped foster strong community and introduced a lot of bloggers to their peers. Another important factor has been the surge in local events, which was kicked off by the Northwest Arkansas production of the national Listen To Your Mother show. The show wasn’t a blogger event per se, but nearly every cast member had a blog. Also worth mentioning is our proximity to Walmart. Some bloggers in other parts of the country travel to conferences like BlogHer every year just to meet with brands. Northwest Arkansas bloggers can meet with brands on any given Tuesday (if they can get an appointment).
What kinds of blogger events have you been to? Was it a conference? A coffee shop meetup? A local sponsored party?
Evolved Mommy is about tech and gadgets as the relate to family life. We talk about Apple products like iPads, iPhones and pretty cases for iPads and iPhones. We talk about gadgets for the home like Nest thermostats and Roombas. We talk about nonsense and life in Northwest Arkansas. Whatever.
