NWA Mom Prom: Bedazzled fun for a good cause
Stephanie McCratic

My friends Shannon and Gwen from NWAMotherlode decided we to shake things up a bit in Northwest Arkansas by putting on the first NWA Mom Prom. Dig that sequined masterpiece from 1992 out of the closet and join us May 4th at the Springdale Holiday Inn for a night of friends, fun, dancing and giveaways, all while supporting a great cause.

NWA Mom Prom dress

This fancy number is awfully similar to my 1992 prom dress except mine had 1″ straps because I went to Catholic school after all.

Tickets are $35 and they are selling fast as word gets around. But let’s get this party started right. I’m giving away a 4-pack of tickets to one lucky reader.

This giveaway has ended. Congrats to Cassie Webster!

Enter to win a 4-pack of tickets:

  1. Share this post with your friends via Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook or email.
  2. Comment below telling me ANYTHING about your high school prom experience.

The winner will be announced and notified on April 1st. No fooling.

Please, please let there be at least one Sir Mix-a-lot song played. Maybe this time I won’t get drunk and make out with that weird kid.

Thank you so much!!!!! My friends and I are ecstatic! :-)

  2. I had a good prom experience. It’s a fine line of not enjoying it and enjoying it.

  3. Laura

I didn’t go to my senior prom. My too-old to be dating a senior boyfriend convinced me that I was too cool to go to the prom. Big mistake :-(

  4. Stephanie Cox

My high school boyfriend went to a different high school than me, so I went to his junior and senior prom at his school and he went to mine with me, so I got to go to several proms. Unfortunately, my dad taught at my high school and was my class sponsor, and my mom taught at my boy friend’s high school, so when I say my parents chaperoned us, I really mean it: they were there when he picked me up, they followed us to prom, kept an eye on our every move, and followed us home–I would love to have a prom without my parents, now that I am a parent. Also, no one at our proms ever danced. Though we had djs and a dance floor; we were all too timid and worried about making a spectacle of our selves and what others would think: we just sat at our tables and milled around chatting. I always think, “I would love to go back to high school with the confidence gained as an adult, now that I realize I really don’t care what people think of me…I would dance like a fool at prom and have so much more fun…” Now I guess we can.

Ohmuhwurd Stephanie. I would’ve been mortified if my parents had been at my prom. We danced like fools, and I plan to do more of that. MOM PROM!!!

  5. Kara C

I still have 2 of my sequined numbers and one purple lame number that was my sister’s. They are awesome! Alas my short gold fringed number I wore my senior prom is long gone. You could of re-enacted a prom photo with your hubby. Hee hee.

    • evolvedmommy

I’m on the phone with my mom right now and she found one of my dresses. It happens to be the one I really hate the most. I short electric blue sequined number w/ fringe. across the off-the-shoulder neckline. Hot. Mess.

  6. Kara C

I’m in to help with makeup! Can’t wait to see your updo. Oh and you married my senior prom date- no worries, making out was not involved.

    • evolvedmommy

YES! You must do my make up. I’m hoping my mom still has my dresses. They are fab-u-lous!!!

  7. Babbs Clements

My school wouldn’t let my boyfriend come because they thought he was too old. I was shy so I spent the night against a wall until he came back for me.

    • evolvedmommy

Babbs – how old was he? I’m dying to know.

  8. Jacqueline

Prom parties got busted, so I was in bed a little before 1:00. I was ready though, tired from all the dancing! ;)

    • evolvedmommy

Prom was all about the after party for me. But then again I was trouble.

  9. Cassie Webster

I had a blast at prom! I got dressed up and went with my best friends and our dates. I even got to dance most of the night with my high school crush! It was amazing! We danced the entire night and I couldn’t have had a better memory. Going with my mommy friends to the Mom prom this year-excited beyond belief! :D

  10. Angie Pelletier

I went to prom and would love to go to Mom’s Prom but I am self concious and find it difficult to shop for attire… plus funds are hard with 3 kids. I shared post on 5 different sites!!

    • evolvedmommy

Angie, I get that. Thank you for sharing and being so open.

      • Angie Pelletier

However I must add that as a sophmore I went to his senior prom and when I was a senior he came to mine… and 18 years later we are still married with 3 beautiful children- dated for 3 and married 15 now

  11. Rhonda Bramell

Lord, I went to 3 proms with the same guy! That sounds so lame now.

    • evolvedmommy

I think that’s sweet, not lame. Also… at least you knew what to expect.

  12. Erin

I didn’t do any dancing at my prom, ready to dance now!

  13. Jenny Whitney

I had to go with my best friend’s boyfriend because she wasn’t able to go with him! He and I were good friends so that helped the situation a little, but he pouted all night about her not being there with him.

  14. I did not get to fully enjoy the prom experience. The person I went with was not really into the whole prom thing..we showed up, stayed for not even an hour and left.

    • evolvedmommy

My date wasn’t into it either. My school had rules, though. You had to be there by 8:00 (or maybe 8:30) and stay until 10:00. He was trapped!

  15. Maranda Bishop

Some were great others I will I could do over :)

    • evolvedmommy

Same here Maranda. I went to a lot of proms b/c my school (the girls’ school) had prom and my boyfriends went to the boys’ school, which had it’s own proms and homecomings. My senior prom was my least favorite. THIS is my do-over.

  16. Becky Schroeder

I never had a chance to go to prom…..the guy I was dating at the time didn’t want to go…..I’m now 40…married with 2 small kiddos and want to enjoy this event with my girlfriends :)

    • evolvedmommy

High school prom is over-rated Becky! This is going to be a BLAST.

  17. Another night to dance together! WOO-hoo! Before then, I’ll be getting the scoop on your prom night.. ;)

  18. My school didn’t have prom!! I feel like I missed out (a little), but I’m sure I’d have a MUCH better time at Mom Prom ;)

    • evolvedmommy

Fran, this is YOUR prom. I’m already planning my up do.
