The fancy touch-screen computer TechnoGym ellipticals aren’t enough to keep me entertained during a workout. Sometimes it takes an iPad to truly distract me from the reality of doing anything in the same place for an hour. Today it took an iPad, a fancy piece of equipment and a good visit with a friend. Each workout has been very different during this challenge.
Here’s a little secret… I have no idea how much I weigh.
I have my husband weigh me and keep track of the changes in a spreadsheet. Occasionally, I ask him how I’m doing, but I have no idea what the actual number is.
30/30/30 is a fitness goal I’ve set for myself in which I will complete thirty 30-minute workouts in thirty days. Of course, a 1-hour workout counts as two workouts. This is my goal and I’ll make up the rules as I go.
After two days of being sick with some sort of chest cold/pneumonia/flu (I exagerate at will because this is my blog and I can) and not working out at all I carried myself to the gym tonight.
I love my old friend the elliptical. It’s the one physical activity I’m good at.
This morning I dressed for the gym first thing and stopped by for a thirty minute workout on the elliptical.
As an added bonus, the tv in front of the ellipticals was on something other than Fox news today.

I’m going to post pictures from Pilates today and let me preface this by writing that these are hopefully the most unflattering pictures I will ever see of myself. What I mean is those fat rolls are real and I’ve GOT TO do something about it.
Sometimes when I do what I am supposed to do it pays off.
This morning I jumped out of bed, went to the gym and spent 35 minutes on the elliptical machine reading Flipboard on my iPad, came home, showered, took my toddler to her mother’s day out program, came home, met the construction guys who are building my new deck, worked for an hour, went to an 11:00 a.m. meeting,
30/30/30 is a fitness goal I have set for myself for February to complete 30 thirty-minute workouts in 30 days. Yes, I know there aren’t 30 days in February. I started a day early.
When considering this fitness challenge I took into account the fact that I have a hour-long equipment Pilates class every Wednesday, which means eight of my 30 workouts would be taken care of.
So this morning on the first official day of this experiment (remember, I cheated and started yesterday) I got an email that my Pilates class was canceled for today because my instructor is sick.
